Opal and Winn Dixie become friends with the children at her church as well as the elderly and wise. Opal learns a valuable lesson: you can’t cling to people who don’t want to be clung to.

One morning, when beekeeper Donald is working, he notices Humphrey the bear robbing his hives in an effort to grab some of the honey. Humphrey is then chased by the bees, causing him to refuge underwater in a pond.

Donald protests to Ranger Woodlore, who gathers his bears and tells them about Donald’s situation. When informed that someone is taking Mr. Duck’s honey, the whole gang reacts with faux fury. Humphrey, the last bear to come, is still dripping after his immersion in the pond. When Woodlore questions him why he is usually wet, and he answers with body-washing movements, Woodlore informs him that he takes a bath too frequently.

The Ranger then displays to the bears the boundary line that separates their park from Donald’s honey plantation. Donald erects a wire fence to stop the bears. However, this does not deter Humphrey, who props it up with a sign. Humphrey uses a hose to try to get the honey after failing twice to outwit the bees, but Donald fills the hose with water to make it look like honey is running through, which sprays in his face and catapults Donald, Humphrey, and Woodlore in the pond, then after Woodlore strikes him and says, “You take too many baths!”
