The Walt Disney Company is all set to launch the Disney Plus Hotstar version for its Indonesian audience this September 5th, 2020.

The news came from Disney CEO Bob Chapek himself while presenting the Q3 earnings of Disney through a conference call. An official Twitter account of Disney Plus Hotstar Indonesia  and a tweet later sealed the deal.

Chapek stated in his conference that, “I’m happy to announce that we will also be rolling out Disney Plus Hotstar on September 5 in Indonesia, one of the world’s most populous countries. By year-end, Disney+ will be available in nine of the top 10 economies in the world.”

Disney Plus and Hotstar

Disney Plus Hotstar is a merger of Disney+ and Hotstar, a wildly successful streaming platform in India. The collaboration launched in March and has to-date attracted countless subscribers. For the users who live in a geo-restricted region, they can always use a Disney Plus VPN to stream it.

It caters to movies and TV shows for Disney Plus and successfully airs all the local Indian content, local news, and sports channels.

Disney Plus Hotstar Content

With COVID-19 at its peak and theatrical release of movies postpone, Disney Plus Hotstar’s new “Multiplex” has become a home for all the upcoming film releases directly on the platform.

The streaming site offers free content for its non-subscribers, while all the popular uploads remain for premium members only.

Disney Plus Hotstar is exceptionally affordable in India, compared to the monthly, yearly or Disney+ bundle offer of Disney+ in the USA, UK, Canada, or Australia. No word for pricing is there yet for Indonesia.
